Theater with a mission.

PoliglotTheater uses the power of live documentary theater to advocate social and political change. We travel to areas of conflict or crisis and conduct extensive interviews and research while engaging in hands-on aid work. The interviews and film we gather then provide the raw materials for new theatrical work, through which we aim to raise American awareness of injustice and humanitarian need.

Premiering Off Broadway in 2010

In the fall of 2008, Poliglot spent three months in Israel and the West Bank conducting interviews while volunteering as teachers of English and drama in local refugee camps. Neither Heaven Nor Earth is the product of these interviews and experiences, an original script that offers an urgent and unique look at the state of the region and the people in it today. Set to premiere Off Broadway in June 2010, this work of multimedia documentary theater echoes a call from both sides of the conflict for humanity, freedom, and a just peace.

Research + Interviews

During our three months in Israel and the West Bank we collected over 30 hours and 130,000+ words of interviews with students, shop owners, factory workers, tour guides, peace activists, politicians, and soldiers. We also served as volunteers with Project HOPE, teaching English and drama in the refugee camps of the West Bank city of Nablus.
